Eden Guide: What is EdenOS?

eden-guide-what-is-edenos

In the last chapter it was mentioned that the Eden on EOS community uses the EdenOS process to collaborate and make decisions in a decentralized manner. This chapter will describe what the EdenOS process is and how it helps make Eden on EOS an effective decentralized autonomous organization (DAO).

What is EdenOS?

Well, in a nutshell Eden is a revolutionary process by which a community or group of people can come together and reach consensus on selecting leaders or representatives.” - Chris Barnes (Winner of the first ever Eden on EOS trial election)

EdenOS is a new and revolutionary democratic process that helps to protect and enhance the independence and power of those who join an organization such as Eden on EOS. It aims to create a fair and transparent governance model for decentralized autonomous organizations, allowing all members of a DAO to have an equal say in decision-making.

The EdenOS process gives members of an organization, such as the Eden on EOS DAO, the ability to propose and vote on proposals, allocate resources, and manage the organization's operations. The Eden platform also allows for the creation of sub-groups within the community, which can have their own governance structure and decision-making processes. For instance, there’s an Eden on EOS for Chinese natives.

Also, communities from other blockchain ecosystems can also form their own decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) based on Eden. It is possible for a blockchain community to create an Eden on Ethereum, or an Eden on Solana. Eden on EOS is just one instance of EdenOS’ process implemented by the EOS community.

In simpler terms, EdenOS can be described as a powerful tool for creating and managing decentralized communities, where all members have an equal say in shaping the future of their organizations. A tool that empowers a new generation of organizations, community builders, and influencers to reshape how groups, teams, and movements select leaders and representatives in a democratic process that is free of corruption and capture.

How EdenOS helps DAOs to be more effective

Current governance models or processes being used across world nations to elect national representatives, such as electing a president, do not always receive total consent of the voters because sections of the population feel their voices aren’t being heard. These traditional governance models and processes are also susceptible to corruption and capture, especially by the incumbents.

For centuries, these traditional governance processes have created environments where societies had to rely on the morals and good nature of those in power to not cheat their way into winning elections and staying in power. This has evidently created a mistrust and a great divide between our leaders and the people they govern. Time and again this has led to rebellions as the masses feel they no longer have a voice and their power to affect change has been stripped from them.

EdenOS helps to overcome these obstacles by implementing a fairer governance process, one that enhances the independence and power of all participants. The process leverages the wisdom of the crowd to recognize the best community representatives in a manner that doesn’t devolve into party politics, popularity contests, or incumbent advantage. In doing so, EdenOS helps secure life, liberty, property, and justice for all participants of its governance/election process.

EdenOS’ impact on the Eden on EOS community is that it enables the EOS community to end its dependence on entities it doesn’t have a control over. It also provides the EOS community with the means to tackle vital issues and enhances the community’s ability to reach consensus on solving its most pressing needs.

In the next chapter, we’ll discuss in further detail how the Eden election process works and the revolutionary impact it could have in the world.
