This Week: Anticipation and Excitement Levels Rising for EOS

this-week-anticipation-and-excitement-levels-rising-for-eos

Coming off quite an eventful recap from the other week’s developments, this past week’s developments are very telling of the current atmosphere in the EOS community. Although this past week has been less eventful than the one before it, excitement levels certainly haven’t dropped for EOS.

More historic developments have been achieved this past week and the EOS ecosystem has only continued to strengthen. With EOS already recognized as a leading blockchain for Web3 and decentralized applications, it continues to show just why that is.

At the start of the week EOS EVM went live on testnet. This is the last testnet before a scheduled mainnet beta launch on April 14. The mainnet beta will be version 0.4 of the EOS EVM, with updates and improvements to be made in the weeks and months following the launch.

The last major milestone before mainnet beta is launched is the currently ongoing security audit by the leading Sentnl firm. EOS EVM mainnet beta is ready to launch on schedule, barring a setback where the EOS EVM contract fails the security audit and major issues are found.

EOS EVM is much anticipated by the EOS community and should by Ethereum stakeholders as it allows developers to build and deploy smart contracts written in Solidity, the programming language used by Ethereum and other Ethereum Virtual Machines. Especially so with the recently announced $20 million to be invested, as well as many other funding opportunities presented to developers and entrepreneurs to build or deploy their applications and business on EOS EVM.

A deep look into EOS EVM

With anticipation building ahead of the EOS EVM mainnet beta launch in two weeks, the EOS Network Foundation (ENF) has published an article that delves deeper into EOS EVM’s architecture. The biggest architectural piece to the EVM, or at least as it relates to EOS stakeholders, is the fact that the EOS token will be its native token.

EOS will be exposed to a slew of new developers and projects from other ecosystems. EOS EVM is positioned to be one of the most performant EVMs on the market, while maintaining compatibility and feature parity with traditional Solidity environments.” - An excerpt from the article

There’s also the possibility we covered in a recent article where we discussed how EOS EVM could have a burn mechanism that destroys excess EOS tokens collected from fees, which would help offset some of EOS’ inflation. Another possibility is the excess tokens could be used to further fund development and other initiatives on EOS EVM.

Leading gaming/GameFi application on EOS, Upland, has won the ‘Most Innovative NFT project’ at the first-ever American Metaverse Summit & Awards. Upland was among the 143 shortlisted companies in the Metaverse ecosystem in America and bested the lot to be one of the award winners across 19 categories.

The American Metaverse Summit has a focus on business opportunities in the Metaverse, with the aim is to connect, educate and help build relationships among up-and-coming new companies and large corporations embracing Web 3.0 and the Metaverse. Mythical Games, the gaming company behind Blankos, a game based on EOS’ underlying tech, also won under the ‘Top Partner for establishing early-stage presence in Metaverse’ category.

A huge thank you to our amazing community for your unwavering support and incredible engagement. We couldn't have done it without you! The future of Upland is looking brighter than ever, and we can't wait to embark on many more exciting adventures together.” - Upland

One of these “exciting adventures” will certainly be Upland’s partnership with the EOS Network Foundation for a three-track hackathon for the upcoming ‘Upland’s Genesis Week’ celebration in Las Vegas on June 9. This will undoubtedly see Upland become an even stronger brand within the gaming and metaverse industries.

As of writing EOS is trading at $1.20 (up from last week’s price of $1.14). It is currently doing $110 million in daily trading volume, and its market cap currently sits at $1,308,334,126. This week sees EOS move up 3 spots to 42nd by market cap rankings. All stats are based on CoinMarketCap data.
